So, I know this seems like an odd comparison, but I wanted to determine how I should play/record my Gamecube games. My dilemma was that I wanted to play Game.. I don't think anyone's said that the GC's Component cable is much better, just that it provides a somewhat sharper and less blurry image than the Wii's Component cable. so is it worth 200.00 for a very minor difference? 200.00 can buy a boat load of gamecube games I will stick with my RCA's deal with the poorer quality video and be happy I took picture comparisons of the Wii hooked up to an RGB monitor via component (YPbPr) versus the original systems in RGB. Please note that I left the RGB monitor settings the same for both, so the brightness doesn't match exactly. I'll eventually re-take these pictures with an OSSC in linetriple mode to get a more exact representation New Wii / Gamecube. New Wii / Gamecube. Versus the old Wii it's a lot clearer and better with colors, you can tell by the first image when you compare the lines. Versus the new Wii, the newer Wii is much sharper than the Old Wii, but when you pay attention to the second image, the Gamecube is a lot sharper still
While it has been proven that the GameCube outputs a superior picture to the Wii when both systems are using component, the Wii U adds another dimension to this. Until recently, playing games on the Wii U was more trouble than it was worth. Within the past 6 months, Nintendont has improved more rapidly than any other homebrew I've followed Gamecube Games on Softmodded Wii. All my games are (and probably will be in the future) PAL standard games - which means no progressive scan (as far as I know) - If you have a PAL Wii, you can get the official Nintendo SCART RGB cable very cheap and use RGB. - If you have an NTSC Wii, stick with 480i component, as it's much easier...just plug and play. Darum würde ich beim Framemeister/OSSC auch den Component-Weg gehen, da die Bildschärfe bei Component etwas besser ist als bei RGB und man auf 480p hoch kommt

Dec 31, 2009 #1 Ancient topic, I know, but I just wanted to ask. I've tried google it, and a lot of comparisons are for composite vs component, one that is fairly pointless - everybody knows composite is the crappiest. Yeah, for the gamecube specifically you can't do 480p through Scart (even if the standard supports it) if you want proper 480p RGB on a CRT you'll either have to get the GC component cable, or just play on a Wii where component cables are dirt cheap. — Posts automatically merged - Please don't double post

Posted on September 30, 2014 by BuckoA51. Over on the Shmups forum, user Sixfortyfive and Artemio (author of the 240p test suite) have posted an amazing in-depth comparison of the video output quality of the Wii and Gamecube consoles. Sixfortyfive has taken dozens of screenshots comparing the output, while Artemio. If you want quality, you'll need to source either a first-party cable, or a third-party cable from a known-good manufacturer, like Retro Access, Retro Gaming Cables, thefoo.83 on eBay, or HD RetroVision, assuming any of them decide to start manufacturing Wii component cables; which may be unlikely, considering how popular the Wii was; I assume the number of first-party component cables floating around out there is pretty high Wii component cables don't work with the GC, sorry. Your best bet is to use the Wii component cables on a backwards compatible Wii. Thanks. I just bought a few gamecubes pretty cheap at a flea market today with the digital outs, had no idea that they were only compatible with the OEM Gamecube cables. Was ist der Unterschied zwischen Nintendo Wii und Nintendo Gamecube? Finde heraus welches besser ist und dessen gesamt Leistung in der Spielekonsole-Bestenliste. Kategorien I have a Wii plugged in to a 4k TV with component cables and I was actually surprised by how good it looks. I've used it solely for Gamecube games so far, since I use my Wii U for Wii games. From different comments and videos that I've watched, I understand that the difference in image quality between that setup and a Gamecube + HDMI (like. since Wii isn't capable of HD signals the only big difference is down to the ability of component to carry 480p or 576p. at 480i or 576i RGB should probably be a bit better. J Membe The games are almost unplayable. With component cables and 480p though, games play flawlessly. You will see the graphical limitations of the cube more easily, however. So, for an HDTV, use component with 480p; otherwise, for SDTV (crt), use RGB It is important to compare like for like, as I used to have a 3rd party component lead that was rubbish compared to the Nintendo RGB. Where the component does win, is it allows (NTSC) progressive scan when used with freeloader and import games that support it. If you're not intending one using this facility, save some money & go for the (Nintendo) RGB lead
The GameCube (Japanese: ゲームキューブ Hepburn: Gēmukyūbu?, officially called the Nintendo GameCube, abbreviated NGC in Japan and GCN in Europe and North America) is a home video game console released by Nintendo in Japan on September 14, 2001; in North America on November 18, 2001; in Europe on May 3, 2002; and in Australia on May 17, 2002. Ich hoffe ich konnte euch weiterhelfen If you can't remove the screw to check, such as when purchasing a wii online, you can ensure you get a 4 layer die shrunk (40 or 60) by purchasing a wii that has gamecube controller ports and isn't white. You can get a revision 40 or 60 from a white shell, but you will not find a revision 01, 20, or 30 in a red, black, or light blue wii. So again, buying a wii that isn't in a white shell ensures that you get one that is efficient and easier to cut Game Cube & Game Boy Player vs Wii U on a 4:3 RGB monitor: I ran both the GameCube and Wii U into an RGB monitor via 480p component converted to VGA. I then tried down-converting them to 240p though an Extron Emotia. Here's how it looked, GBP on the left, Wii U on the right, both in normal, pixel perfect, not stretched modes. The Wii U definitely seemed to output a much clearer picture (click on all pics for full-sized versions)
Component has been a little cheaper (at least in my experience), where first-party cables were available at retail for $10~$20, HD Retrovision's PS2/PS3 and Wii/WiiU component cables are going for about $30 each (although the RGB->YPbPr converting ones are, what, $50~$60 each?), and automatic component switchers can be had on eBay for <$100 (Audio Authority 1154/1154A; will do TOSLINK, too. The board can output analog RGB (both CSync and HV-Sync available) or Component video. While I haven't calculated an actual BOM cost for the parts, it should be MUCH cheaper to manufacture than the current price for the original cable. The downside is that as far as I know there is no source for the original plug, so it has to be mounted internally in the Gamecube RGB SCART (576i (PAL redesigned Wii with a top-loading disc drive. In addition to the lack of GameCube support, the Wii Mini removes Wi-Fi support and online connectivity, along with the removal of the SD card slot. It also removed support for 480p and component video output. According to Nintendo of Canada's Matt Ryan, they stripped these features to bring the price of the console further.

Really the only reason to have your Gamecube out is for a GBA player. I use the Monoprice component cables with my Wii and couldn't be happier (especially for the price) (For now) You can think of this console as a superset of the GameCube and as such, compatibility with the previous generation of games is naturally inherited. That being said, in order to make the Wii fully backwards compatible, the old set of external ports were brought to the Wii, these include the GameCube controller and memory card ports. There's a new constraint however: The new memory map is incompatible with the old one, thus an emulated layer of compatibility was. It's also recommended that you manually bring the resolution of your Wii U down to 480p when playing GameCube/Wii games so your TV can do the upscaling, since the upscaling of the Wii U isn't very good at all. Personally, I don't notice much of a difference between a Wii game on the Wii and a Wii game on the Wii U Unfortunately the Wii model tested wasn't listed... However, this post makes the claim that later Wiis have better outputs (and the second post in the thread on page 1 proves the weaker signal compared to GC via oscilloscope but again, fails to list the model). Unfortunately, I haven't come across any comparisons between Wii models. But that post lists some other benefits from the later revision Wiis such as lower power consumption and lower heat generation (more info in the. Component > RGB SCART > S-Video > Composite > RF Aerial. The only type I haven't used is VGA monitor output. Using RGB SCART on my plasma TV can exhibit colour banding whereas you get smooth colour graduations when using Component. The other advantage of Component is that watching DVD's does not produce the dreaded green screen that RGB SCART does. S-Video can produce pretty bad colour seeping.
